Luxon is sure to keep shrugging off that 1 News Verian poll this morning and in Parliament today while doubling down, deceiving New Zealand voters about the "Fiscal Cliff" he inherited - just to keep the lights on with Pharmac - while at the same time health services in hospital settings are irresponsibly cut back all just to make Willis look good in her upcoming Budget.
It's telling how that Luxon lie about the "poor me Labour left me a fiscal cliff" was called out by Jason Walls in yesterday's Post cabinet Presser - but despite this - Luxon is still making social media reels - doubling down on the deception - while Jenna Lynch half calls him out on NewsHub and Claire Trevett refuses to see it for what it really is - let alone write about it in the NZ Herald.
The corrupt partisan media give Luxon the license to deceive.
The NZ Herald simply cannot bring itself to challenge Luxon's persistent lies - whether it's a lie about "economic vandalism", "government spending being the main driver of inflation" or simply time limited funding is a "fiscal cliff".
There is no surprise about time limited funding National have been aware of the details since Grant delivered his Budget 2022 in May 2022, and Budget 2023 in May 2023.
So the Luxon crocodile tears are an insult to voters and the dire partisan pom pom team at the NZ Herald are exposed for what they really are right now.
The Verian poll surveyed 1000 eligible voters between April 20 and April 24 which was - the four days when the pom pom team were blowing smoke up Luxon over his jolly in South East Asia ( pep in his step ), Luxon's evasion of evidence that his tweaked Three Strikes would work, cows standing in rivers of mud again RMA repeals, 7AA shenanigans at the High Court with the Waitangi Tribunal summons of Karen Chhour, and of course - how "I lead and roll" making "continuous adjustments" by sacking Simmonds and Lee.
As you know one poll alone is not a trend - plus much of the movement in 1 News Verian poll was within the margin for error - however we also know Chippy said - his internal polling reflected this shift as voters are coming back to Labour - especially in Auckland electorates.
The next polls will tell the trend story and right now there are not many polls ( if any ) other than Atlas Network TPU Curia polls which are usually conducted early in the new month and published around the 10th of the month.
Curia put Labour on 26% at the start of April - so if by May 10th Curia says they are on 30% that's a significant shift.
As you know - we are used to Talbot ( labour's internal polling company ) leaking a "corporate client poll" which is essentially the same numbers around the 16th of each month - but as has been mentioned many times on G News - there was no Talbot poll in April 2024.
Despite all of this - the Verian poll gave the left block cause to feel pumped up again - as if Kiwis do give a damn and flushing Winston and Seymour down the drain is the least the country can do to get it's mojo back.
Hope springs eternal and now we have reason to hope that nobody is impressed with being lied to by the dodgy CE who is full of shite and word salads - and we've had a gutsful of Seymour swinging his weight around - in his big boots.
Morale is high again as Winston snarls in the shadows and lashes out that polls right now are meaningless, but clearly they mean something to us, as we press the flush button and it's bye bye Winston.
Chlöe rose in popularity as a preferred PM and edged out Seymour which was a damned good thing to see, and of course we all know Chippy is better by a country mile than Luxon - but that poll is still catching up about that.
When it comes to Chippy - some folks are still able to recall the election results and those effects take some time to wear off.
Chippy is correct that New Zealanders are not seeing the change they expected to see from the Coalition and for Luxon to crash and burn in only six months is a sign of worse to come for the right block.
We'll all be wearing a feather in our caps and feeling on higher ground today and for the next few days over this poll result - while Hosking glows with rage and shoots up into the sky over Matakana ...and Atlas Network operatives grind their teeth and make excuses like losers.
The Three Headed Taniwha has fallen and one of it's heads was loped off.
Time to make it count.
Protests tomorrow.
Forever Tuesday Morning
