G News - the good news

Owners of the average EV will now pay $912 in Road User Charges per year ( on average ) as part of the Government's fight against climate action in a climate crisis - and in a big neoliberal effort to make life more expensive in a cost of living crisis.

It's all about terrible timing and not giving a fark.

Although some say this was going to happen anyway, it did not have to be this way yet - and is likely more to do with unnecessary tax cuts that are so small they get canceled out for many - by these kinds of new National Party taxes...the tax and spend party.

"You can't tax your way to prosperity", said an organic punga.

"How many potholes will be fixed by Simeon Brown?", asked a Flax Bush, expecting more extreme climate weather soon.

"Suck it Up Losers", warbled a majestical Kiwi before yelling "YEAH RIGHT" and flying off to peck at Sir John - who said something like that on election night.

"It sure stops people buying an EV", said G from G News, "Which I guess was always the plan if you are sucking up to the Petroleum Industry".

"It's like there's no tomorrow", said Monty chasing a fly across the carpet.

The transport agency has allowed a two-month grace period so new users can understand the system to get their RUCs paid.

From today, landlords will be able to write off 80 percent of their mortgage interest, rising to 100 percent from April 2025.

So far no landlords have lowered their rents and there's nobody feeling any downward pressure to do so.

National have sweetened the deal for mega landlords and transferred wealth to incentivise more non-productive property speculation in order to force first home buyers out of the market.

It's all about harming the kids and licking the greedy.

The minimum wage went up today by 2% which was well below inflation on 4.7%, which meant Luxon and Willis were deliberately making the low income folk go even further backwards as the heartless rich, punched down hard on people they felt were undeserving of equity.

The standard annual increase to the Family Tax Credit - known as Working for Families - will increase by $8 a week from $136.94 to $144.30 after tax for the eldest child and from $111.58 to $117.56 for subsequent children.

A couple on NZ Super or the Veteran's Pension will get $71.08 more a fortnight ( $17.76 per person per week ), and a single person living alone will get $23.10 per week.

Eligible students who are living away from home and aged under 24 will get an extra $27.94 in student allowance - to a maximum $314.15 a week after tax.

There's no moaning in headlines about what "about the poor?" - like when Labour was dishing out much bigger gains to the needy over the past years. The faux outrage has died now that the Neoliberals are in power.

Nobody Reading this is Gerry Brownlee !!!

Hooray!!

Mining company Trans-Tasman Resources has unexpectedly withdrawn its application for a consent to suck the valuable metals vanadium and titanium from the Taranaki seafloor, as it apparently wagers on the Government’s new fast-track process.

Yes Chris Bishop was saying nothing to media about this as he waved his hands around and performed for a social media video on his FaceBook Page - sticking to the spin and lies ...trying to bring New Zealand along with the neoliberal pillage of our environment for the short term gain of invisible special interests.

"He lies like a flatfish", said G from G News in reference to the flapping flounder's comments about how Labour's RMA 2.0 made things worse.

Forest and Bird reckon The Bish and Mates are skating on thin ice about breaking FTAs and Chris Bishop has refused to hand over advice he received - which was rushed in a compressed time frame by the Neoliberals.

The quick and dirty lack of attention to real impacts was all part of the "who cares we know best" culture that has seen a long string of mistakes, botch ups and errors from Nicola Willis with her English Literature qualifications - as she pretends to know all about Finance.

There's an opportunity to have you say about the reckless Fast Track Consenting bill. The closing date for submissions is Friday, 19 April 2024. I'll put a link on my page soon.

There were a few good laughs about April fools jokes this morning.

One that caught a few people out on Waiheke was a story about a bridge being built from the mainland to the Kennedy Point Marina - and that had a few locals swearing - like over my dead body and that is a stupid idea, it will never see the light of day.

But it was just an April Fools joke - much like that minimum wage increase at 2% - when it should have been 4% - but wasn't.

Unfortunately Brook Van Robot wasn't joking and initially wanted it to be only 1.3%.

Why are Act Party people and Neoliberals so cruel?

As you may recall Vicki and I are on holiday from tomorrow but I'm still here till tomorrow morning. G News will run on the smell of an oily rag - with minimal posts until 13 April when I am back in the seat.

Gotta go to the Chemist now - and then we have some friends coming over. Always good to see friends.

Have a pleasant afternoon.
