G News - The good news

The heat was on National over the past week after they disgusted the nation with their austerity for tax cuts for Landlords so today Luxon and Willis needed to respond to the fact that they had done zip for ordinary folk so they made up a story about an admin issue they glossed over and rushed to announce "Family Boost" which is up to $75 a week for some households with early childhood education costs.

The NZ Herald had reported that this policy was missing in action back on Friday so over the weekend, the Nats scrambled to get their slack act together.

Trouble was, media had heard Luxon and Willis smugly assure everyone on the campaign trail that they "knew numbers" and they boasted that they were "superior economic managers" and that their numbers were "rock solid" - especially around tax cuts which this policy was bundled up with.

"I'm sorry but I disagree, I want to be very clear about that, I don't know how to be any clearer", said Luxon at the time.

Now it turns out the ECE numbers were wrong as well.

That's Transport Policy numbers = WRONG

That's Interest Deductibility for Landlords numbers = WRONG.

That's Online Gambling Tax numbers = WRONG.

That's Foreign Buyers numbers = WRONG

And now Family Boost ECE subsidy numbers = WRONG.

"Superior economic managers", said an organic punga, "what do the inferior ones look like?"

"Classic over confidence from the dumbo Dunning-Kruger", said a flax Bush.

"I disagree strongly", warbled a majestical Tui before yelling "YEAH RIGHT" and flying off to peck at Luxon.

"It beggars belief that National voters still swallow the myths" said G from G News.

"There is no creature as gullible as the certain man", said Monty lounging on a cushion on the couch.

No wonder Christopher Luxon was calling out "We are going to move on now, Jason, Jason do you have a question", when Amelia from NewsHub fired up - and asked Luxon how do you keep getting these numbers so very wrong???

The terror of accountability as Luxon is exposed again.

Luxon tried to avoid and evade questions - by my count - almost a dozen times - in what must be the most cowardly and disgraceful display of a man out of his depth - with a yellow river running down his leg at a press conference ever.

The excuses came thick and thin - like how - National did not know things before the election that IRD told them afterwards, and now there's a huge administrative burden being placed on parents to keep a bunch of invoices from 1 July onwards and submit them to IRD every three months in the hope of some kind of refund.

What a shambles after Willis assured people before the election it was all going to be super efficient like money right there in your bank account every two weeks.

Seems Luxon and Willis failed to consult IRD about what their system was capable of and decided to go out and promise parents they would get fortnightly payments anyway.

IRD said nah bro you are dreaming - that will take 2 or 3 years to implement and Willis and Luxon were wide open mouthed like a couple of dodo birds after the election.

Making promises only to break them like today.

About 21,000 households will be eligible for the maximum amount of $75 per week and 100,000 households for something less. Crikey not many if any.

Maiki Sherman asked why this was not calculated as an amount per child rather than per household but the answer from Wilis was weak - that's the way it's always been - per household she said meekly.

Parents with multiple children pay way more but tough luck as Willis said remember we have tax cuts coming too - to try and skip past that point like a big slippery sneaker.

As mentioned Luxon kept trying to dodge questions about the differences between what he campaigned on and this absolute BS - and even started talking about Adam the reporter sitting there - and how he went with playing cricket with Chris Bishop.

OH my God - Luxon was dodging and itching to get out of there.

Willis disagreed with Treasury and the IMF about the broader tax base and denied she was working against monetary policy suggesting her tax cuts were fiscally neutral.

Willis also denied she was prioritising tax cuts over a return to surplus. When clearly that is exactly what she is doing.

Nobody Reading this is Gerry Brownlee !!!

Hooray !!!

There was talk about how David Seymour will dismantle all sorts of regulations in Early Childhood Education which is likely to compromise safety and health.

Luxon had no idea about what was in the Cyclone Review papers written by Mike Bush and there was loads of excuses about he was yet to digest this cos he had no idea about the 72 recommendations.

Luxon also had no update about how three greyhounds had died and mumbled how he was going to get the racing minister to look into that.

Luxon waxed lyrical to watch this space as his Q2 plan is coming in a few days time.

When asked about the delay for a day to Sail GP Luxon focused solely on economic matters and muttered about New Zealand having an obstruction economy and too much red tape around these events - what a plonker. He was more concerned about an international TV audience than the dolphins - how predictable.

Luxon laughed off the CTU and brayed like a donkey showing us his teeth when Chris Hipkins speech was mentioned. Luxon ranted about taxing more is the solution for everything with Labour as he ran for the door like a massive coward followed by the strident Willis.

Chris Hipkins appeared on the Platform today and flummoxed Oliver Sean Plunket by simply declaring that Luxon has made choices and the whole blaming of the previous government comes down to him trying to justify his choices now.

The choice to pay out Landlords and feather the nest of property speculators - and to take away support for the disabled or beneficiaries or - to fire so many good people in the public service is all stuff Luxon does not have to do.

The made up story about the economy being so broken is BS with "six years of economic vandalism" being just a propaganda line to prop up those choices made by National.

Plunket was unable to counter that. Eric Crampton ( Atlas ) was also weak - arguing you can't bolt on a capital gains tax to a tax system designed without one.

There's a new buzz about Chippy's speech on the left as we get the feeling Labour will come back strong and this neoliberalism will be kicked to touch.

Meanwhile look at the tragic wrongness on display and yeah I feel for Hector and all the other vulnerable creatures in Aotearoa New Zealand - including our children and the disabled.

Have a very pleasant evening !!
