Both David Seymour and Christopher Luxon tried the spin on New Zealanders today that they were the great heroes keeping Pharmac funding going at current levels because evil Labour had used - time limited funding - which is a standard budgeting process but one Act and National calculated they could exploit with the public's general ignorance about it.
The idea was to fool the public into blaming Labour and portraying themselves as the heroes who had dedicated $1.7 Billion is funds to stop medicines being defunded by the evil Labour party. You see the game...it's politics.
But that silly game was caught out in the Post Cabinet Post cabinet press conference by Jason Walls and media quickly pitched in and forced Luxon to concede all of his governments budget programmes will be four year funded. Ha ha I bet Nicola was furious.
Luxon waxed lyrical about today being the first day when the ban on school cell phones kicked in - and claimed the ban was an overwhelming success by referring to anecdotes in the same way Erica did and all National party robots do. Oh the feedback and phone calls were incredible and overwhelming etc...but Jason struck again like on Friday the 13th and started asking how many phone calls and emails...ha.
Earlier today Seymour said Luxon can't sack an Act Minister cos that would breach the coalition agreement as Seymour strutted up and down defiantly like Squirrel Nutkin - and Luxon had to agree like a big weak ineffective powerless milk sop.
April’s ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence survey, which came out on Friday, shows we’re now nearly as gloomy as we were during the global financial crisis.
No wonder with this neoliberal Three headed Taniwha messing everything up so badly.
OIA requests revealed that it would take $723 Million for National to fix the waiting lists in two years according to Health officials - but instead of taking up that challenge - Dr Cigareti watered it down in targets about 95% getting a first specialist and 9% getting first elective surgery in less than 4 months by 2030.
Dr Ayesha Verral said unless the Government do more than they are - then they are simply are not serious about tackling these waiting lists - something like that.
Luxon dodged all questions about media policy and in particular the Fair Media Bargaining Bill - but he did let slip that Goldsmith who is conveniently overseas will be managing a "reset" which sounds like National will kick that bill to the curb soon. Remember Atlas, Act and National hate it and only NZ First wants it. Luxon hid behind how "Goldy the come back kid" was overseas so he did not have to answer questions.
Luxon also ducked, dived and weaved behind the Courts over commenting on the 7AA clause in the Oranga Tamariki Act.
Parliament starts up again tomorrow and Chippy is ready and rearing to go as are the rest of the Opposition.

"Me too", said a Flax Bush, "Those sackings and the timing, what was that all about?"
"It's how he rolls, aces in places", warbled a majestical Tui before yelling "YEAH RIGHT" and flying off to peck at Audrey Young.
"Yeah what are the polls saying and can we trust them?" said G from G News who had become quite cynical these days.
"A grain of salt", thought Monty as he eyed a sachet of cat meat.
Erica Stanford announced six BS education measures and blamed the lack of specificity in our curriculum for education outcomes. The usual "Knowledge rich curriculum spin we hear from the Atlas Network was trotted out again.
Winston will give a foreign policy speech on Wednesday that Luxon clearly has not been across as he seemed like a fish out of water about it before the media.
James Shaw will give his valedictory speech in Parliament on Wednesday.
Rumour has it according to sources that Amanda's little social fund raiser party was disrupted by protestors and poor Mandy was so rattled she clean forgot to thank the serving staff.
